Preschool FAQs

 

Q. Is the school licensed?

Yes, we are fully licensed by the State of Connecticut, Department of Public Health – Child Day Care Center.

Q. What is the child/teacher ratio?

It varies between the age groups. For the three year old program it is 7:1 and for the four year old program, it’s 8:1.

Q. What are the Extended Day hours?

Extended Day is available when 5 or more children are signed up to stay and the preschool hours extend until 1:45 or 3:00.

Q. How often do the children go outside?

Each class goes out daily, weather permitting, so children should be dressed appropriately.

Q. How does the swim program work?

The children dress for swim inside the preschool classroom. A 20 minute group swim lesson is taught by an Italian Center Swim Instructor. The classroom teacher is also in the pool area during the class.

Q. How long have the teachers been at the Italian Center Preschool?

Our teachers have been at the Italian Center from 4 to 20 years.

Q. How long is school is session?

The Italian Center Preschool is in session from September through June. Our school schedule coincides with the Stamford Public School Calendar for holidays, school vacations and snow day schedule.

Q. Do you have curbside drop off and pick up?

Yes, the Italian Center Preschool does have curbside drop off in the morning. However, children must be picked up inside the Preschool at the end of the day.

Q. How soon do you start taking registrations for the new preschool year?

Current preschool students and their siblings can register in November. Open Registration is done on a specific date in late November. Registrations are accepted on a first come, first served basis depending upon availability.
