Nursery School Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Is the school licensed? Yes, we are fully licensed by the State of Connecticut, Department of Public Health - Child day care center.

Q. What is the child/teacher ratio? It varies between the age programs. 8:1 for the 4-year-old program 6:1 for the 3-year-old program

Q. What is the discipline policy? If a child becomes disruptive he/she is spoken to by the teacher. If the behavior continues he/she is sent to the director.

Q. What are the Extended Day hours? Extended Day is available only if there is 5 or more children signed up to stay.

Q. How often do the children go outside? Each class tries to go out daily, weather permitting.

Q. How does the swim program work? The children dress for swim inside the nursery classroom.  A 20 minute group swim lesson is taught by an IC swim instructor.  The classroom
teacher is also in the pool area. 

Q. How long have the teachers been at the school? The teachers have been here 4 to 12 years.

Q. How long is school in session? Nursery school is in session from September through June. The nursery school follows the Stamford Public School calendar.

Q. Do you have curbside drop off and pick up? Yes, we have curbside drop off in the mornings. However, the children must be picked up inside the gymnasium for afternoon release.

Q. How soon do you start taking registrations for the 2008 - 2009 school year? Current nursery school students and their siblings can register in November.  The "Open Registration" is usually done on a specific date in late November.  Registrations are accepted on a 1st-come, 1st-served basis depending upon availability.  Call to set up a tour of the school in October.
